Sports Meet: The Races

There were races on Tuesday afternoon until it was time to go home, which was also when it started raining again. Wednesday, drizzly but not really raining, was a full day of events for everyone and Thursday, not even any drizzle, a full day for grades 3-6.
Each class in the school was represented in the events for their grade. (The students in a class are together from grades 1-6. That fact, plus organizing events like this one by class, must instill in the students a sense of belonging to a group.)
The starting gun had me jumping all three days. It was a real cycle. The music and commentary would end, the gun would go off, I would jump, and the racing, racing music and cheering would begin.
Third grade students ran in the longer races for the first time. Their teachers actively encouraged them along the way. Here the grade 3, class 1 teacher runs with her student just before the finish line. This was typical of the third grade teachers. They must have been exhausted at the end of the day!
